About

I’m Mehmet, a software developer for 15 years, based in Belgium. Married, father of three.

Our house came with a home automation system installed about twenty years ago: PHC, a brand that is no longer maintained. Every room has panels of four or five push buttons, wired with thin multi-core cables back to a large cabinet full of wires. It is a mess, and none of the electricians who came by wanted to take it on.

So I am learning electricity myself, starting from nothing. I want to understand this installation, decide whether to remove the home automation or replace it with something modern, and bring the house up to standard until it passes the inspection by Vinçotte.

This Site is where I write about that work, and about what I build as a developer.
